I am about 40 % into The Prophecy by Rachel Deagan and I've got to say so far, so good. It is definitely getting better as the story progresses and unravels. The story of three teens with supernatural abilities had me a bit weary at first, but with each new discovery the story is getting better and better. Here's my little teaser:
"I don't think this is a normal tarot card." Devin flipped it up between his index finger and thumb, revealing the face to us. It appeared to be a picture of a woman standing half in and half out of the water. In her hands, she held two vases, pouring water out to her sides. Over her head a crest of stars jotted the sky.
"The Star," Michael said, moving from his perch by the doorway of beads over to Devin's side. "The card is called The Star." He squinted, tilting his head to the side as if trying to read it. "It's a symbol for those who have lost their path. One foot is in the water, the spiritual plane, and the one is on land; the physical world around us. To see this card is a reminder that hope isn't lost, that the Stars will be a guide to the path of enlightenment, and the balance will be restored between the planes of existence. The Stars will show the way..." Micheal's voice dropped to a whisper, and I saw him swallow hard.
"Us" I said, nearly echoing Micheal's tone. I felt dizzy.
