Lukas (Ashes & Embers #3)
by: Carian Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 30, 2015
Vandal’s little brother.
You’ve met him in the background. The sweet one.
The nice one.
The one they can all rely on.
The good one.
He’s a tattoo artist. He plays metal and classical music - on the violin. He’s got a body built for sin.
He’s 24.
In comes Ivy. She’s a 36 year old single mom who hasn't dated in 18 years.
All she wanted was a tattoo.
She got a helluva lot more :)
Being good has never been so bad.
My Rating: 4 Coffee Cups!!
I'm going to kick this one off with a moneymaking idea for Carian Cole. Ready? Mass produce Lukas clones. No, but seriously. The entire time I was reading this book the one phrase that kept repeatedly running through my mind was "I want one". I wanted my very own Lukas. Hell, I still want my very own Lukas. And I can almost guarantee (I say almost because sometimes even I am wrong) that by the time you are done reading this you will want one too.
Ivy has just gone through an ugly separation. After 18 years of marriage and two children she discovers that her scumbag husband has been cheating on her for the past year. Completely blindsided, she is heartbroken, confused and angry. But in an effort to get control over her life once again she does what a lot of women do after a break up- the things she wanted to do that her husband frowned upon. For example: dying her hair fire engine red. Or (after being armed with a gift certificate from her best friend) getting a tattoo.
Lukas is a young 24 year old tattoo artist/classical musician. He is kindhearted and definitely more than meets the eye. After just recently meeting his biological family he has a sense of what he wants in his life. He wants a family of his own. He wants stability. He wants love. He's been through a lot in his young life and he's had to grow up quickly. But when he finds what he wants he goes after it wholeheartedly. And what he finds is Ivy.
That first appointment they both realize pretty quickly their attraction. And although it is mutual, Lukas is the only one who is willing to admit it out loud. Now, don't get me wrong, I completely understand Ivy's position. She's a 36 year old newly single mother of an 18 year old girl and 8 year old boy. She's hesitant. I mean Lukas is only 6 years older than her daughter. But after some persuading and patience and understanding on Lukas' part they give it a shot. But as much as they have to tend with Ivy's insecurities the biggest issues they have are created by others. Friends who don't understand (and don't seem to really want to) and scumbag ex husbands, just to name a few.
I loved this story. It was sweet, complicated, funny, steamy and heartbreaking at times. It seriously had your emotions running the gamut.
I have a confession to make. This was the first in this series that I have read. I know, I know. But I am definitely planning on scooping up Vandal and Storm sooner rather than later and will be keeping an extremely close eye on when the rest of the series is released :)

About the Author:
I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.
My first novel in the Ashes & Embers series, Storm, was published in September of 2014 and book 2, Vandal, was published in February 2015 with several more of this series planned throughout 2015.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
